A growing manufacturing company in the Howard County, MD area seeks a Staff Accountant on a temporary (6-12 week) assignment.
Job Responsibilities
- Handle Accounts Receivable (AR) and Accounts Payable (AP) tasks: adjustments, transaction postings, customer refunds, invoice review, and payment processing.
- Manage AR collections: address overdue accounts and prepare weekly AR aging reports.
- Process credit card transactions.
- Assist with annual tasks: 1099 filings, business licenses, and annual reports.
- Maintain vendor and customer records in the accounting system.
- Support month-end close: reconcile prepaid/accrued expenses and post journal entries.
- Prepare monthly bank and general ledger reconciliations.
- Generate and distribute monthly commission reports.
- Ensure compliance with GAAP, company policies, and internal controls.
- Assist with financial reporting, audits, and special projects.
- Support sales tax filings and resolve tax issues.
Education & Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in Accounting or related field.
- 5+ years of accounting experience (consumer goods industry preferred).
- Proficient in Microsoft Office; advanced Excel skills required. Data analytics experience is a plus.
- Strong reporting and analysis skills.
- Experience with enterprise-level software (Microsoft Business Central/MS Navision preferred).
- Detail-oriented, organized, and self-motivated.
